My policy and teaching philosophy
I love music and believe strongly in its ability to uplift and enrich lives. Music can especially have a powerful influence on children and youth. Providing a music education for your children will be a great gift that will bless them throughout their lives.
In order to provide the optimal experience for success in music, the Kyle McKenna Piano Studio sets high expectations for all students. Lessons with us will provide a solid foundation of music theory, technique, and music appreciation, as well as the universal characteristics of responsibility, accountability, and hard work.

I began taking piano at age 8. In my youth, I enjoyed accompanying high school choirs, composing and arranging music, and performing for family and friends. I even had a chance to play with Jon Schmidt at one of his concerts! My love for music led me to study piano pedagogy at Utah State University and graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Music. Over the last decade I have taught many piano students as a side job, but I am thrilled that now I can finally take on a full studio.
I grew up in Farmington, Utah where I enjoyed hiking and exploring its spectacular mountains. In fact, I love being in the outdoors so much that I used to tell people that I wanted to be a mountain man when I grew up! (My wife is glad that I changed my mind about that…) I also love running and had the opportunity to run on Utah State’s Cross Country and Track teams. Besides running, I love backpacking, bonfires, and the Utah Jazz .
I have been married for the past two years, and my wife, Michelle, and I have made many wonderful memories together. We enjoy many of the same things. She is incredible!
